Motorsport Victory for GWS and Fox in Spa-Francorchamps

GWS Motorsport with Fox Motorsport took their second chequered flag of the season with a commanding performance at the Hankook 12 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. GWS Motorsport drivers Jamie Stanley, Ben Clucas and Andy Perry brought the TyreWatch sponsored Audi R8 LMS GT4 home nearly two minutes ahead of their closest class rivals.

After qualifying in second place, Jamie quickly secured the lead pulling out a 40-second advantage by the end of his first stint, which Andy doubled by the four-hour mark. But a lot can go wrong in endurance racing; we were unfortunate to be hit by a faster GT3 car, then the left side mirror became a casualty to track debris. These separate incidents required longer pit stops, which put us firmly back into second place. Showing superb pace and outstanding pitwork, we fought back claiming the fastest lap time of our class and then the lead with less than an hour to go.

Glenn Sherwood, Tructyre’s founder, commented: “Due to work commitments I was unable to race, but the Audi’s outright speed with bulletproof reliability allowed our terrific drivers and team to finish in superb form. We go into 2019 with composed confidence ready for our next race: The Hankook 24H Dubai held on 10-12 January – Creventic’s blue-riband event – one of the largest 24-hour endurance races in the world.”
